Fighting in hockey is a long tradition in the North American sport. Though controversial to a certain extent, it's been normalized to where it's become one of the more beloved aspects of professional hockey. While the fighting aspect in hockey is amused by many, some might wonder why professional hockey leagues like the National Hockey League allow such a thing as fighting.

It's about understanding the point of view towards those who are in favor of the fighting aspect in hockey. As some may consider it an uncivilized aspect tainting the sport of hockey, there's another way of looking at it. On the argument of supporting the concept of fighting in hockey, the sentiment is fighting helps deflect the excessiveness of playing rough whole on the ice rink.

One must understand that fighting can be used in defending oneself self if players are intentionally playing rough. Fighting may teach other players not to act a certain way to could provoke an altercation. The point of professional hockey is competing at the highest level, but there are consequences if certain things get out of line.

Understandably, there may be some that aren't fans of the fighting aspect in professional hockey. However, the tradition of fighting in hockey is an accepted tactic by many due to the reasons stated above.
